Ikerbasque, the government granted Basque Foundation for Science will establish a new centre for research on climate change. The Centre will be based in Bilbao within a university setting but with an independent management and operational structure. It will start its activities in 2008. The main areas of focus will be interdisciplinary basic research on physical climate modelling, integrated climate modelling, the analysis of mitigation and vulnerability and adaptation, and the study of alternative methods of international cooperation in this area.
Ikerbasque is seeking applications for the position of the director of the centre as well as senior researchers in the areas identifies above. Applicants will have a background in either the physical or the social sciences, but with a strong commitment to the study of climate change.
The director should be a person with a proven track record in the area of climate change and at least 15 years research experience. He or she should also have experience in managing a research institution and have an international reputation in the field.
Senior researchers in the identified fields should have a proven record of research and at least 10 years research experience.
