Post Doctoral Research Fellow in Social Sciences

The Energy Biosciences Institute at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign is seeking postdoctoral researchers to conduct innovative research examining the economic and environmental implications of large scale biofuel production as part of an interdisciplinary research program. The specific duties include the development of economic models and their implementation using mathematical programming methods to analyze land use, crop production/pricing, biorefinery location and transportation issues, international trade and climate change implications of biofuels. The ability to use GIS databases to undertake spatially explicit analysis is preferred. We seek a candidate with excellent computational and programming skills, experience in numerical simulation models, outstanding ability to perform thoughtful, critical quantitative analysis, and excellent oral and verbal communication skills. A demonstrated ability to produce quality research output, a strong publication record, and an interest in working with researchers from other social and environmental sciences will be among the selection criteria.
Required Qualifications: Ph.D. in one of the following areas: Economics, Agricultural Economics, Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Transportation Engineering or a related field.
