2007 AERE Workshop - Announcement
Valuation and Incentives for Ecosystem Services
Mystic, Connecticut
June 7-9, 2007
The next AERE Workshop will be held on June 7 - 9, 2007 at the Hilton Mystic Hotel in Mystic, Connecticut, with convenient access to the Hartford, Connecticut and Providence, Rhode Island airports. The topic is "Valuation and Incentives for Ecosystem Services." This year the Workshop will focus both on methods and applications that evaluate the services provided by nature and on incentives and institutions that modify behavior and lead to enhanced provision of amenities including biodiversity, carbon sequestration, preservation of wildlife, etc. The papers address diverse resource management and environmental policy problems and apply a variety of theoretical, experimental, econometric, and numerical methods.
The Hilton Mystic offers leisure and business travelers modern elegance amidst the rich traditions of colonial Mystic. Area attractions include Mystic Seaport (the country's leading maritime museum with the largest collections of boats and nautical photography in the world), Mystic Aquarium, and the picturesque Olde Mystic Village, a replicated 1720 New England town. The Workshop will start with a reception on Thursday evening, June 7, at the Hilton Hotel, and will conclude at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday afternoon, June 9. The registration fee is $200 ($150 for students), which includes copies of all Workshop papers, the reception on Thursday evening, continental breakfast and lunch on both Workshop days, and dinner on Friday evening, June 8, at Abbott’s Lobster in the Rough in nearby Noank, Connecticut.

A block of rooms will be held until 5pm on May 17th for Thursday and Friday nights at a special rate of $119 for singles or doubles. There are also a few rooms available at that rate for those arriving three days earlier or staying three days later. Call early since space is limited-first come-first served. Register early, because space is limited, and the registration fee goes up after May 15.
