AERE Student Membership

AERE student memberships offer the same benefits as AERE Individual Memberships but at a substantially reduced rate.

To become a student member or renew your student membership, please click on Student Membership located in the right column. To purchase your membership, please visit the Online Shopping tab and select on of the two student membership options.

Note that proof of student status is required for student membership. That proof can consist of a letter from your university, an unofficial transcript, or an electronic link to your university showing your current student status. Please email your proof to info@aere.org.

Student Membership Benefits

  • Reduced registration fees for the AERE Summer Conference. In 2011 this reduction was $100 for the conference registration fee and $75 for the preconference workshop. 

  • Reduced subscription rates to the Journal of Environmental Economics and Management;

  • A subscription to the Review of Environmental Economics and Policy is included with membership;

  • A reduced submission fee for JEEM;

  • A special subscription rate to Resource and Energy Economics;

  • A 20% discount off a subscription to Environment and Development Economics;

  • A 50% discount on dues for membership in EAERE;

  • An AERE Newsletter in May and November, containing information about upcoming conferences, a variety of notices related to environmental research and policy, position announcements, as well as essays by AERE members on topics of current interest and reports on new and developing AERE programs;

  • Sponsorship of sessions each year at professional meetings including the Allied Social Science Association Meetings, the Agricultural & Applied Economics Association, and a variety of regional association meetings. AERE members are encouraged to propose papers for presentation at these sessions;

  • A World Congress of Environmental and Resource Economists (next Congress in 2014) sponsored jointly by AERE and the European Association of Environmental and Resource Economists (EAERE).

  • Two annual AERE luncheons: one held at the AERE Summer Conference and one in January during the ASSA meetings. The January luncheon features the annual Fellow's Talk and at the Summer Conference, the AERE Award Presentation is held. The luncheons provide a good opportunity to renew old friendships and to meet new colleagues who share your professional interests;

  • Access to the password-protected AERE Membership Directory.

Return/Refund/Cancellation Policy

Membership dues are non-refundable. Payments for events will be refunded if requested by the deadline listed for the event. However, a $50 administrative fee will be withheld for any refund.
