Call for Proposals for Organizing AERE 2023 Fall Virtual Workshop

Interested in helping your colleagues develop new skills or learn about new topics? The AERE Board of Directors is soliciting virtual workshop proposals on any topic related to environmental or resource economics that will be of interest to others working in this field. Workshops may address basic skills or emerging issues. Topics of interest to those working in academia, government, industry, or nonprofits are welcome. Previous workshop topics include:

  • Climate Change Integrated Assessment Modeling
  • Recent Advances in Program and Policy Evaluation
  • Field Experiments: Design, Methods, and Applications
  • Big Data in Environmental and Resource Economics
  • New Opportunities for Environmental Measurement
  • Advances in Integrated Assessment Modeling
  • Environmental Justice Research in Economics: Context, Tools, and Methodologies

Workshops are offered virtually over 1 – 2 days in the fall. Workshops may be designed as mini-courses, panel discussions, highly interactive conversations, or other formats. Innovative approaches are welcome. Workshops may not be used for commercial purposes. Administrative support for the workshop is provided by AERE Headquarters.

Proposals should be emailed to AERE Headquarters by March 31, 2023.The submission should provide the following:

  • Contact information. Please include information for the workshop organizer(s). 
  • Workshop materials (up to 50 words). Please describe any handouts, files, data, and other materials to be provided to attendees.  
  • Workshop objectives (up to 50 words). Please describe what you anticipate participants will learn from this workshop. 
  • Organizer’s experience (up to 50 words). Please summarize your experience in producing similar workshops or events.  
  • Workshop agenda (up to 250 words). Please list topics, speakers, and approximate times for each component of the workshop.   
  • Workshop title (up to 120 characters).  
  • Workshop description (up to 250 words). If the workshop is accepted, this description will be used to advertise it to potential participants. Include the following:  
    • Brief overview  
    • Summary of the format (e.g., short course, panel discussion)  
    • Summary of the content (topics to be covered)  
    • Target audience(s) if relevant (e.g., level of experience)  
    • Professional development goals (expected outcomes for attendees)  
    • Any prerequisites or requirements.

Submission of a workshop proposal is viewed as a firm commitment to organize the workshop if accepted. Submissions received after March 31, 2023, are not guaranteed consideration.
