The Scientific Partners of BIOECON are pleased to announce the Twenty-Second International BIOECON Conference, which will be held at the Jackson Lake Lodge in Grand Teton National Park, Wyoming, USA on September 30 – October 2, 2020. BIOECON XXII will be of interest to scholars and decision-makers working on issues related to the science and economics of natural resources and the environment including biodiversity conservation. In particular, BIOECON XXII will highlight the integration of natural science and social science, including economics, for conserving biodiversity and managing natural resources.

Keynote presentations will be delivered by Carolyn Fischer (Resources for the Future) on “Who’s afraid of the WTO? Environmental disputes and trade in natural resources,” and Simon Levin (Princeton University) on “Public goods, from microbes to human societies.”

We invite paper submissions to BIOECON XXII related to the main conference theme, “Integrating social and natural science for conserving biodiversity,” as well as a wider range of biodiversity, economics, and conservation topics including (but not limited to): • Behavioral and experimental economics for natural resource management • Linkages between biodiversity protection and climate policy • Economics and ecology of seasonal migratory species conservation • Economic and environmental impacts of the transition to renewable energy • The demand for nature tourism and prospects for the outdoor recreation economy • Political economy of natural resource and environmental policies • Incentive-based policies for biodiversity protection • Experimental, quasi-experimental, and observational methods for evaluating and designing biodiversity protection programs • The non-market benefits and opportunity costs of protecting biodiversity for the provision of ecosystem services • Using real-time remote sensing data for adaptive natural resource management

The conference will commence with a reception in the early evening of Wednesday September 30. Conference sessions will begin in the morning of October 1 and conclude in the afternoon of October 2. Organized group tours of Grand Teton National Park and surrounding areas will be offered immediately before and after the conference.

Papers may be submitted for presentation to [email protected] no later than May 15, 2020. Only complete papers will be considered by the scientific programme committee. Please include an Abstract of 150 words or less and Keywords with your submission. Unfortunately late papers cannot be considered. It also is possible to submit 3-4 papers together as a suggested session under one of the topics indicated above or an alternative topic. The Scientific Partners reserve the right to accept papers on an individual basis, so even if a session proposal is not successful, individual papers within the session could be accepted. Authors of accepted papers will be notified by email no later than June 15, 2020.

Selected presenters will be invited to register one presenter for the conference at the “invited presenter” rate. The invited presenter rate consists of a $250 registration fee that will cover the costs of 2 nights accommodation, reception, lunches, and conference banquet. Additional guests may be registered for lunch ($45 per person) or the conference banquet ($65 per person). There is a $400 registration fee for all other participants that will include the banquet, lunches and refreshments, but not accommodation. There is a $250 registration fee for day-participants, which includes lunches and refreshments but not lodging or the conference banquet. Registrations for conference presenters are due by July 15, 2020.

Registrations for all other participants closes on the September 15, 2020.
